I mentioned earlier that Helen had contacted friends of Tommy's that they had known from work or just being neighbors in the community. She asked them for either their thoughts about Tommy or maybe a short story they could share. I would like to share two that have meant a lot to Helen. She would like to express her love and gratitude for providing the following by two of Tommy's close friends.

Tom Owen was one man in several million. His physical strength was limited, but his inner strength was as great as anyone I have known. He was an inspiration to me personally and to my entire police department. I loved him for the man he was.

Dear Helen,
What a great idea to write a book about Tom. Tom was my great friend who had a great sense of humor and never tired of teasing me, mostly because I came from Chicago. We argued back and forth every time I came into the station, but when I had something to seriously talk to him about he was always ready to advise and help me through any situation. What would amaze me is that what ever the problem that arouse, Tom knew someone who could help us, he seemed to know everyone. It truly was a sad day when he left the department and we knew he couldn’t be replaced. I always will have the utmost respect for Tom, his courage, faith and dedication and I know everyone who knew him felt the same way.
I miss Tom and wish I could speak to him once more, to tell him how much I love and admire him, but then, he knows!
