This is Tommy’s story. A minister, police officer, husband, father, and grandfather whose life was not the same as others. His life was sixty eight years of joy, struggles, prayers, and miracles as a man with severe handicaps, who tried to live a normal life. Though his childhood memories were of doctors, hospitals, and casts on both legs and sadly an alcoholic father, he overcame all of that to become a well respected police officer and preacher who ministered to others thru a daily practice of witnessing and providing for those in need.
He spent his youth struggling to walk with crutches and most of his adult life in a wheelchair. His last eight years were spent totally dependent on others as his mind and spirit were trapped in a body that could not move.
He lived his dreams of having a wife and children and a job that would allow him to care for his family, but the dreams were always clouded by insecurity and self-doubt.

His story needs to be told.

I have worked on this manuscript for many years and often thought it was ready to publish. This time with the help of my daughter Debby, son Ricky and son in law Tony my dream has come true. Thanks to Ricky for adding his thoughts to the story. Debby helped transform my manuscript from a journal to a reflection of Tommys life as Tommy would have seen it during his last days with us. Tony has become my business manager and takes care of this blog and the book marketing both on-line and in Book Stores. I am still old school and enjoy writting with a pen and paper. I have seen the benefit of the computer and some new publishing ideas which is why I have also decided to publish this book in the Amazon Kindle format. We hope this book reaches out to those who are looking for some assurance that handicaps can be overcome and a normal life can be expected with the grace of God at work.
